What to know before you go
Timings, route and season
- Darshan is open through the day in season, with morning and evening aarti.
- Best season is April to November. The ashram is very cold and closed for much of winter.
- About 20 km (around 45 minutes) from Blessed Aura via Bhowali, and about 38 km from Nainital.
- Route: Blessed Aura to Bhimtal (about 11 km), Bhowali chowk (about 9 km), then Kainchi Dham on NH109.
- Every 15 June is Pratishtha Divas with a bhandara. Expect large crowds and special traffic arrangements.
Temple etiquette
- Dress modestly and remove footwear before the shrines.
- Photography is restricted inside. Follow the posted signs.
- Keep phones quiet and move gently.
The ashram was established by Neem Karoli Baba, and the first temple was inaugurated in June 1964. The murti was consecrated on 15 June 1976, after Maharajji left his body in 1973. The Hanuman temple stands over the platform where earlier saints performed yagyas.

An overnight in the hills
Two days, one night from Kathgodam, with a quiet night in Bhimtal and an early-morning darshan.
- Kathgodam pickup and drop in a private car.
- Check in at Blessed Aura by 1 PM, then a free evening by Bhimtal Lake.
- Early next morning, darshan at Kainchi Dham, then straight to your train.
- Extendable on request: longer stays, extra rooms, and trips to Nainital, Sattal or Mukteshwar.
